Father’s Day is Sunday! Over the years, I’ve found myself stumped on what to get Ordell. How do you say thanks for being such an amazing dad with a gift? Thankfully as our boys have gotten older some father/son traditions have been created. I love adding to these traditions, it’s an easy way to be supportive of “guy time” 🙂
My Top Five Gifts for Dad are:
Camping gear: Several years ago Ordell decided it was time to take the boys away on his own. The first trip was a weekend at his parents, the second an overnight camping. Each year the trip expands in some capacity. Whether it be extending the trip by days or including a new hike, he spends a ton of time planning and preparing. One year we got a pop up tent which made set up and tear down a ton easier. Another a camping stove was added. Anything to make the time away easier makes the list!
Fishing gear: We live near plenty of fishing holes and our younger kiddo especially enjoys fishing with his dad. New bait, lures, snacks, and license fees need to be purchased every year even if you love your pole.
Video games: Not my personal favorite, but definitely a pastime for my three when they want to “relax”. Thankfully it’s not all battle stuff. Car races and Minecraft top the list!
Time: With our anniversary close to Father’s Day I’ve enjoyed giving the gift of time some years. An overnight away, a special dinner out, or just a full day of relaxing together. Ordell is definitely a “quality time” guy making this one an easy gift.
Photo Travel Mug: One way to ensure Ordell doesn’t lose his coffee mug during recruiting season is to personalize it. 🙂 When we moved to VA we changed school loyalties and that meant new clothes, bags, hats and travel mugs! (you collect a lot of school spirit in 10 years) Anyway, I took pictures of the boys with the new mascot and pictures of everyone is their new gear. Shutterfly had a great deal and I was able to get a very reasonable stainless steel travel mug.
I’m linking up with Mrs. Disciple, what are your top five gifts for dad?
