A 2020 report reveals that Generation Z values discipleship. 85% of surveyed students who have two to four adult mentors and 91% of those who have five or more adult mentors reported their life has meaning and purpose. The more mentors someone has, the more meaning they believe their life has.
This recent survey matches the twenty years of discipleship ministry Beth Walker and her husband and has experienced as they have welcomed people into their home, spent time leading bible studies, praying with others, and listening.
We’re all called to different communities and different types of ministries. But when we are followers of Jesus, our calling to live out the Great Commission and the Greatest Commandment are the same. As Christ’s ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20), we’re all called to “make disciples of all nations” wherever we live. God invites us to partner with him and live on mission every day, even in the mundane moments of life. We do this when we love people as Jesus taught the disciples to do, without stipulations.

Embracing Holy Interruptions: How Jesus Used Mundane Moments to Love People Deeply is a six-week Bible study that teaches people how to develop a disciple-making movement.
This is not a step-by-step instruction manual.
Jesus modeled using mundane moments to love people, build tension, and point them to God in a way that caused many of them to step from a curiosity about God to a fully surrendered faith. We can adapt his methods and learn from the examples in the Gospels today.
This study aims to help people keep their eyes on Jesus and improve their inductive Bible reading skills while also learning to love their neighbors to the best of their ability.
Why Did You Write This Study?
After over two decades of relational ministry with college and high school-aged students, I’ve discovered that there are natural rhythms to ministry we can engage in or avoid. Most people prefer to engage ministry when they are able to identify the opportunities God is placing in front of them, but discipleship is different.
For various reasons, we’ve attached unnecessary stipulations to mentoring. We believe we aren’t qualified or that we have to be a certain age. We convince ourselves we need to know more Scripture first, or that people aren’t really interested in hearing from us. All the while God is calling us to disciple a generation. Who is he calling? Everyone.
All throughout Scripture we see ordinary people called to walk with Jesus and fulfill amazing callings. The same God calls us to partner with him today.
Who Is This Study For?
This study is for anyone looking to learn more about how Jesus interacted with people during his years of ministry on earth.
Here’s an example of what each day will include:

Is This Good for Group Study?
Yes! In fact, I’ve included a short guide for group facilitators to help you remain organized. Whether you do the study over video or in-person you will find the group interaction adds a layer of insight as you discuss the week’s homework.
