Share Four Somethings – October 2019

Something Loved

This month our team beat one of the 2 cross-town rivals they play every year for a special trophy. This win was a significant one for many reasons. I think it shows on their faces. It was a joy to see their disciplined demeanor on the field payoff.

Something Said

This month I wrote about creating an Online Legacy over at The Glorious Table. I don’t think this is something we as a society are thinking about enough these days. Between video, social media, email, and digital photos there are large quantities of information collected about us every day.

What we say, like, post and share will shape how our character is understood in the future. Are you accurately representing your heart and thoughts with what you share and post online?

Something Learned

This month I’m participating in Ann Swindell’s Writing with Grace course and let me tell you she is adding a whole new dimension to my writing. While I’m not sure how much of it will apply to my current long-form writing project, I am already thinking about story in different ways.

I love that writing is a craft that has so many aspects and angles. There are many different ways to consider communicating the same information. As a writer, I’m learning that part of telling my story is figuring out what filter or format is best to share the information for a broad audience.

Thankfully, there are plenty of teachers out there willing to share their knowledge and experiences!

Something Read

Working through Annie Dillard’s An American Childhood this month. Not a typical read for me, however, I’m learning a lot about memoir through this classic and loving the change of pace.

I’m linking up with Heather Gerwing for another month of Share Four Somethings! Head over to Heather’s blog to see what others are sharing this month.
